A.E. Dick Howard receives the William Green Award

In March, Richmond Law presented the 2026 William Green Award for Professional Excellence to A.E. Dick Howard, R’54, a nationally renowned constitutional scholar. Washingtonian recognized Howard as one of the nation’s most respected educators, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Library of Virginia called him one of the greatest Virginians of recent times.

The William Green Award is presented to a distinguished lawyer whose career offers an inspirational model for Richmond Law students. Past recipients include Chief Justices William H. Rehnquist and John G. Roberts Jr., Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Oliver White Hill Sr., Sen. Tim Kaine, and former Virginia Secretary of Education Anne Holton.
