The gifts that brought Skylee Cox, L’26, to law school

In December, members of Richmond Law’s philanthropy group, the 1870 Society, gathered for a reception at the Branch Museum of Design.

Dean Wendy Perdue and university provost Joan Saab joined these dedicated supporters in recognizing the impacts of the society’s efforts.

Guests heard from Skylee Cox, L’26, who shared her path from rural Appalachia in West Virginia to Richmond Law and how support from 1870 Society members shaped her law school experience.

“I honestly didn’t think law school was financially possible,” Cox said. “When I received my full tuition scholarship offer ... it made attending law school a real, tangible opportunity. It changed the entire trajectory of my life.”
